explores the concept of fear and how it can limit full growth potential. Each image in the exhibition is a portrait of one person, with their faces and bodies obscured by strategic lighting, wearing nothing but a calligraphy ink design painted on their skin. The designs are gestural representations of the fears that grip each subject. By stripping each model of the shells utilized to hide inner abject insecurities, we are left with a stark, yet ambiguous, black and white portrait of a personal truth.
The group of images is an introspective project with the realization of internal gender differences. Women tend to focus on abstract concepts: being alone, not being good enough, mediocrity etc., while men focus on physically present situations and objects: drowning, snakes, failing school courses. Some resulting crossovers between genders are apparent.
